What is Churg-Strauss Syndrome?

It is a very rare, non infectious auto-immune disorder characterised by abnormally high levels of certain white blood cells called "eosinophils", inflamed blood vessels and a probable prior history of Asthma. It is also known as Allergic Granulomatosis and Allergic Angiitis.

Two physicians, Jacob Churg M.D., and Lotte Strauss M.D.,  first identified the syndrome in a 1951 paper entitled " Allergic Granulomatosis, Allergic Angiitis and Periarteritis nodosa" published in the American Journal of Pathology.
